These great clients purchased a lovely Coal Harbour condo as a downtown Vancouver ‘getaway’. They needed a little help making it feel fresh and modern and simply had no time to personalize it. They knew they needed an interior designer and when they brought me in, they were still sleeping on an air mattress!
I wanted these people to really love their new home, so we spent hours thinking about other things they love. Turns out they are both committed adventurer-photographers, so we filled the house with the best photos they’ve taken and hired a professional art hanger to really nail the presentation. They also love Scotland and London and this helped flavour the whole package. UK touches are everywhere — from the throw cushions to the poster art to the magnificent dining room chandelier which exactly matches the chandeliers that adorn their favourite London hotel.
Since every wall was angled and there wasn’t a lot of room, we sought the cutest, most compact furniture we could find. We also replaced the carpet with an oil-finished Montreal walnut hardwood and acquired a very unique table for the dining room. The final arrangement on the balcony is to die for — plenty of privacy without sacrificing that glorious Stanley Park view.
In the end, I helped them select every single decor and furniture item. It was a huge, huge challenge, but the collaboration paid off and the clients finally got their dream-home-away-from-home.
